I am a teacher, artist & woodland ranger, living & working in Sheffield on the edges of the Peak District. I teach a number of traditional crafts but specialise in baskets, natural cosmetics/soap making & stained glass. I use traditional hand tools, techniques & process from an age gone by to create functional & beautiful contemporary & traditional baskets. From the front room & kitchen of my 1 bedroom house (its 3 actually but the others are filled with willow & other 'stuff') I am assisted by 2 greyhounds to weave, strip, sort, drill, saw all manner of weird and wonderful things. I also have a woodland & a woodland workshop to play in when the adults aren't looking!
"A glass pitcher, a willow basket, a tunic of coarse cloth. Their beauty is inseparable from their function. Handcrafted items belong to a world existing before the separation the useful & the beautiful."
